Turner is the entertainment television division of Time Warner. It is the parent of brands such as Cartoon Network, Turner Classic Movies, TNT, Boomerang, Cartoonito, Glitz, CNN, Tru TV and Nuts TV. My role was to support and maintain the multi-channel automated 24 hour live TX for the EMEA area, media management and archive systems. As a senior engineer I would also be responsible for developing, documenting and implementing new procedures for improving system reliability, and acting as a mentor for new hires. Technical responsibilities included the multi channel broadcast playout and archival systems, the Ingest systems, multi-format transfer area, file based content delivery and compliance recording systems. I was responsible for checking the health of the system, and ensuring that the checking and reporting procedures are appropriate for the changing needs as the system evolved and developed. I carried out detailed technical investigations into technical issues where the system did not perform as expected, sometimes in consultation with manufacturers. An important part of my work was supporting colleagues in other departments with their use of the technology. My work often involved writing technical procedure documents for use by colleagues.
